Welcome to the family owned and operated Union Cafe, where we strive to deliver fresh, delicious food to our customers, who know they come first.

So what’s the fuss about ketchup? Not so long ago I noticed customers picking up our ketchup bottles as if they were going to use them, inspecting the back of them, and then putting them down without using any of the ketchup. This happened more than once and absolutely had me perplexed. So I approached a customer, let them know I had seen them look at the ketchup bottle and then put it down without using it. I asked why.

The customer informed me that they were checking the ingredients and the ingredients included high fructose corn syrup. Because of that ingredient, they did not want to use the ketchup. Any customer who likes ketchup on their breakfast (or other) foods but who felt like they couldn’t use it with that ingredient was, if you’ll forgive the pun, in a pickle.

I talked to my supplier and told him that he had to find ketchup without high fructose corn syrup. It wasn’t easy. I found a product being used at another restaurant, gave my supplier the details and now, without sacrificing taste or quality, we serve ketchup on the table without high fructose corn syrup. (We are also serving gluten free and more vegetarian options at customers’ requests.)

Why do I mention this? Because as the proprietor of Union Cafe, I want you to know that we will always strive to ensure that we serve great quality food, and that we listen to our customers. We pride ourselves not just on the food, but also on how we treat our guests.
